You’ve been diving for a while and you love it but you are looking for something that lies beyond the coral reefs, something new and exciting, something ... bigger?
Come with us to a place where every time you surface you feel like you have just made the best dive of your life. Where you will experience diving excitement you thought was lost and where the wildlife is BIG and plentiful.
Revillagigedo (a.k.a. Socorro) is often called Mexico’s Galapagos and with good reason. The remoteness of the islands and the currents surrounding them create the perfect conditions for lots of BIG animal encounters. Think giant Pacific manta rays, dolphins, large schools of fish, massive tunas, and even humpback whales. Wait, I hear you say, what about sharks? Yes! Sharks lots of them. White tips, silver tips, silkies, galapagos, hammerhead, and, when in season, an occasional whale shark. Exhilarating animal encounters at every dive!
Revillagigedo Archipelago is made up of a group of 4 volcanic islands in the Pacific located about 400 km southwest of Cabo San Lucas. The islands are more commonly known to divers as Socorro, the name of the largest island, probably because Revillagigedo is nearly impossible to pronounce or remember! The archipelago is Mexican territory and the only way to reach them is by boat.
The next Encounters Revillagigedo trip is scheduled for Feb 17 - 24, 2019. Join us!

Trip description
Imagine boarding a comfortable boat and heading out to the middle of the Pacific Ocean looking for a few volcanic islands. The trip there will take about 20 hours. Plenty of time to get to know your fellow divers, check your equipment, double check your cameras, enjoy the great food on board, and try to relax. Not an easy task when you get more excited with every passing nautical mile.
After the first night spent on the boat you wake up early. You head to the common area for breakfast. Equipment set up and briefing are next. You pull on your suit and get in the zodiac. The dive ahead is a real game changer.
At the dive site you make a back roll entry into the water. One more quick equipment check and you are ready to decent. You are greeted by endless visibility, a huge vertical wall on one side, and the deep blue on the other.
The show starts minutes after you started the dive and it continues on for another six days, around 24 dives in total. Giant Pacific manta rays, dolphins, Hammerhead sharks, silvertip sharks, ledges packed with whitetip reef sharks, massive tunas, even whale sharks and humpback whales can be encountered in these waters.
After a week spent diving in one of the best locations in the world you will get back to the mainland refreshed and ready for your next dive expedition. Diving is exciting again, it is unexpected, and fun! Diving takes you to magnificent places where you experience nature up close and personal while hanging out with likeminded people. We promise you, you will be back for more wildlife, more excitement, more adventure, and more fun! And we will do our very best to deliver…

It has 9 double cabins, all with private bathrooms and AC, that can accommodate a total of 18 divers. The main deck has an air-conditioned saloon with TV, BluRay DVD, music, and an extensive library so you don't get bored in between dives (you won't get bored, we promise).
The dive deck is spacious, with a large camera table and fresh water rinse tanks for photo and video equipment. The boat offers 10, 12, and 15L tanks with air or Nitrox (extra charge). The dive deck also has a bathroom and fresh water showers.
The Southern Sport crew is one of the most experienced in Revillagigedo. This is one of the main reasons we chose it for our expedition.
